Are you thinking that your company may be ready to migrate to Office 365? Do you feel overwhelmed and unprepared? There are many considerations and key components to take into account prior to migration. The overwhelmed feeling is an extremely common reaction to the process.
The engineers at Big Green IT are at the frontline of migration implementation every day. Ryan Starkweather, Senior Engineer at Big Green IT addresses a few key migration questions in a short video.
Ryan points out that most people are focused on email, but that the two biggest considerations should be your hardware and your software. He discusses the five key questions to answer with regard to software:
Active Directory – is it clean with the right information and up to date accounts?
Domains – do you have one domain, multiple domains or sub-domains?
Mail-enabled applications – do you have mail-enabled applications you need to consider, whether current or legacy, that could or could not be compatible?
Shared resources – do you have shared resources, shared mailboxes across multiple users?
Changes destinations – where do you want your changes to be driven for your Active Directory? Do they need to be on-site or can they be in the Cloud?
Ryan says hardware, consisting of scanners and fax machines, is often the one area that gets overlooked but has a huge impact on end users. They all use the email system to broadcast out any information you are running through them.
Keeping these points in mind will help you set your expectations for the project and get you pointed in the right direction.
